Two major Bollywood films are scheduled to release on the same day in September 2026. The spy comedy Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was initially set to clash with the thriller Haiwaan, featuring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. The box office battle would have pitted Sara Ali Khan against her father, Saif Ali Khan.

The makers of Haiwaan announced a worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026. KVN Productions and Thespian Films shared the date on Instagram with a poster and the tagline, ‘One obsession. One relentless pursuit. One date you’ll want to remember.’

Udta Teer was also scheduled for September 11. The film is written and directed by Akash A Kaushik in his directorial debut. It is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.

Release Date Changed

Udta Teer was later moved to October 9, 2026, averting the clash. The new date was announced with a first-look poster showing Ayushmann Khurrana’s character lying on a hammock tied to pillars marked as the India-Pakistan border. Dharma Productions shared the poster on social media with the caption, ‘Deshbhakti toh yaad hai…par desh nahi. Get ready for unlimited chaos, confusion and action! Catch this #UdtaTeer in cinemas on 9th October – ONE MONTH TO GO!’

The trailer for Udta Teer was released on September 23, 2026. The three-minute-eighteen-second trailer introduces Ayushmann Khurrana as Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani spy who enters India on a covert mission. After an accident, he suffers memory loss and begins to believe he is an Indian.

In the trailer, Sara Ali Khan plays a Counter Terrorism Squad operative and Ayushmann’s love interest. Her character tells him, ‘Your parents were martyred by Pakistani terrorists.’ The film’s tagline is ‘Pakistani Jasoos bana Hindustani deshbhakt.’
