Saiyaara Soundtrack Breaks Global Records As Title Track Tops Spotify Charts

The soundtrack of the 2025 Bollywood romantic drama Saiyaara has become a global streaming phenomenon, with its title track making history as the first Hindi song to reach the top of Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart. The album, released on 4 July 2025 through YRF Music, features seven songs composed by Mithoon, Sachet-Parampara, Tanishk Bagchi, The Rish, Vishal Mishra, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami.

The film, directed by Mohit Suri and starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, follows the story of a musician and a poet who fall in love. Released theatrically on 18 July 2025, Saiyaara grossed over 579 crore rupees worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of all time. Its music has been cited as a major factor in the film’s commercial success.

The Title Track’s Global Ascent

The Saiyaara title track, sung by Faheem Abdullah with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, was composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami. It became the first Bollywood song to break into Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart, where it held the number one position. The track has accumulated over 175 million streams on Spotify and ranked at number 10 on the Billboard Global 200.

Director Mohit Suri explained the meaning behind the word Saiyaara in a YRF video. He said, ‘Saiyaara actually means a heavenly body that travels lonely in the sky. A star is always looked upon as someone who is shining bright, but you know somewhere down the line they are burning themselves up to light up your night.’

Composer Tanishk Bagchi recalled the making of the track in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Bagchi said, ‘I was also having a break-up in the middle. And that’s when I was doing all these songs. And I was able to relate a lot.’ He added, ‘If anybody is going through a break-up, they will go and patch up the next day, hearing this song.’

Faheem Abdullah, a Kashmiri singer making his Hindi cinema debut with Saiyaara, spoke about the song’s record-breaking performance. He said, ‘Just like when Ishq first made it to the charts, it felt unbelievable. And now seeing Saiyaara breaking records and being the first Hindi and Urdu song to be at number 4 globally, it is no less than magic.’

Dhun, Barbaad, And Humsafar

The second song from the album, Dhun, was released on 1 July 2025. Sung by Arijit Singh with music and lyrics by Mithoon, the track peaked at number 2 on India Songs for three consecutive weeks and entered the Billboard Global 200 at number 115. It has accumulated over 175 million Spotify streams. Mithoon said in a Rolling Stone India interview that the song was born from a conversation with Mohit Suri about how an artist’s art is their world.

Barbaad, sung by Jubin Nautiyal with composition and lyrics by The Rish, was released on 10 June 2025. The song peaked at number 3 on India Songs and entered the Billboard Global 200 at number 176. Director Mohit Suri described the track as a song about a guy falling in love for the first time and being reluctant to feel that because he feels falling in love will make him weak.

Jubin Nautiyal recalled his conversation with Suri about the song’s tone. Nautiyal said, ‘When I spoke to Mohit and Mohit said that okay, Jubin, you have to sing this song for romance.’ Suri guided him further by saying, ‘Jubin, sing this like a falling in love song.’

Humsafar, composed and sung by Sachet-Parampara with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, was released on 24 June 2025. The duo said in a YRF video, ‘In this song, you’ll notice the dynamic between the male and female energies. Both are driven by intense passion. The boy’s passion has a hint of aggression, while the girl brings a sense of calm and composure.’

Tum Ho Toh And The Extended Album

Tum Ho Toh, composed by Vishal Mishra and sung by Vishal Mishra and Hansika Pareek with lyrics by Raj Shekhar, was released on 17 June 2025. Vishal Mishra described the song’s origins in a Bollywood Hungama interview, saying, ‘It comes from a beautiful place, a Sufi space.’

On 10 September 2025, YRF Music released an extended album of the Saiyaara soundtrack. The expanded version added two new tracks, Barbaad Rock Version and Saath Tu Chal Humsafar, along with sixteen original soundtrack instrumentals. The extended album brought the total track count to twenty-five.

Anand Gurnani, Vice President of Digital and New Media at YRF, said in a statement, ‘Saiyaara is one such shining result of this original creation, which proves that original Indian music can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s biggest albums. Its global success shows us that audiences everywhere crave authenticity.’

The Saiyaara soundtrack has collectively amassed over 500 million streams across music streaming platforms. At the Pinkvilla Screen and Style Icons Awards 2026, Arslan Nizami, Faheem Abdullah, and Tanishk Bagchi won Best Music Composer for the Saiyaara title track. The film completed one year of release in July 2026, with its music continuing to rank on global streaming charts.
