Dial 1975 Cast: Kay Kay Menon and Kirti Kulhari Lead Emergency-Era Thriller

Dial 1975, an Emergency-era thriller starring Kay Kay Menon and Kirti Kulhari, premiered on Waves OTT on August 21, 2026. The film also features Pravessh Rana, Vishwanath Chatterjee, and Shubham Vardhan in key roles.

The movie is directed by Navneet Behal and Vibhu Kashyap. It is produced by Ranaksh Rana, Niranjan Das, and Kabir Lovee under Spherecho Productions.

Dial 1975 is set during the 1975 Emergency in India. The story follows a race to control India’s first wireless telephone, which is smuggled from Germany.

Kay Kay Menon plays Govind, a court-martialled soldier and veteran of the 1962 Indo-China war. Kirti Kulhari plays Meena. Pravessh Rana plays Prakash, a convict released from jail to retrieve a tape. Vishwanath Chatterjee plays Gorakhnath, and Shubham Vardhan plays Bahattar.

The film also features the late Tom Alter as Lt. Tom Alter. This was his final film role. He died in 2017.

A Delayed Release

Dial 1975 was originally scheduled for release in 2016 under the title San ’75. The release was delayed for nearly a decade due to censorship issues and difficulties finding a theatrical release.

Tom Alter’s son, Jamie Alter, spoke about the film on X. He wrote: ‘Ek film. Ek lamba intezaar. Aur aakhirkaar release. Mere pitaji Tom Alter ki final film Dial 1975 kal release ho rahi hai.’

Jamie also recalled a conversation with Kay Kay Menon. ‘In 2023, when I was doing work with KK Menon, he was also saddened that why the film was not releasing,’ Jamie said. ‘And I’m very keen to watch the film that my father was most interested in.’

Cast and Characters

Kay Kay Menon leads the ensemble as Govind. The character is described as a bitter former soldier who becomes involved in the hunt for the wireless phone.

Kirti Kulhari plays Meena, Prakash’s girlfriend. Pravessh Rana plays Prakash, who is released from prison to find a recording. Vishwanath Chatterjee plays Gorakhnath. Shubham Vardhan plays Bahattar.

The cast also includes Govind Pandey as Ram Avtar and Uday Chandra as Thapar. The film is narrated by the wireless phone itself.

Dial 1975 premiered on Waves OTT on August 21, 2026. The film ranked number one in the ‘Popular on Waves’ section on its first day of streaming.
