Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final instalment of the Hindi Drishyam franchise, was released in theatres across India on October 2, 2026. The film stars Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, marking the end of a series that began in 2015.
The release date holds significance within the franchise. October 2 is the day Vijay Salgaonkar created his family’s alibi in the original film, leading fans and makers to refer to it as ‘Drishyam Day.’
Opening Day Box Office
The film registered a massive opening at the domestic box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Drishyam: The Conclusion earned Rs 56.04 crore gross in India as of 8 pm on its first day, making it the biggest opener of Ajay Devgn’s career.
The record was previously held by his 2024 release Singham Again, which opened at Rs 45 crore. The first Drishyam, released in 2015, opened at Rs 5.85 crore, while Drishyam 2 in 2022 opened at Rs 18.15 crore.
Trade analysts had predicted an opening in the range of Rs 35 crore to Rs 56 crore. The film benefited from the Gandhi Jayanti national holiday.
Production and Cast Changes
The film’s production was marked by a casting controversy. Akshaye Khanna was originally cast in the film but exited the project after accepting the signing amount and committing dates. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak confirmed that a legal notice was sent to the actor.
Pathak said in a statement to ANI: ‘He signed our film, he signed the script, took the signing amount, signed the agreement, and then he walked out of the film. We have sent him a legal notice. If we don’t get a response by the end of the day, our legal team will take action, and we will take action in court.’
Jaideep Ahlawat was subsequently brought in to replace Khanna. As per Pathak: ‘He will do what Akshaye was doing, but he will come in a new form, and we are presenting him in a very good way.’
The team completed a Mumbai schedule before moving to Goa for a month-long shoot beginning January 8. The Goa schedule continued till the end of February and featured the entire cast.
Cast and Certification
Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, with Tabu reprising her role as IG Meera Deshmukh and Shriya Saran returning as Nandini Salgaonkar. Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav also return as Anju and Anu. Rajat Kapoor and Kamlesh Sawant are back in their franchise roles.

New additions to the cast include Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj, who join as new characters strengthening the investigation against Vijay. The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also directed Drishyam 2.
The Central Board of Film Certification cleared Drishyam: The Conclusion with a U/A 16+ certificate on September 28, with zero cuts. The runtime is two hours and 30 minutes, making it eight minutes longer than Drishyam 2.
The trailer was released on September 9, 2026. The film’s first song, titled ‘Vingansa,’ was composed by Ravi Basrur with lyrics by Aamil Keeyan Khan and vocals by Siddharth Basrur. Basrur, known for his work on the KGF franchise, also scored music for Devgn’s Bholaa and Singham Again.
Franchise Conclusion
Director Abhishek Pathak confirmed there are no plans for a fourth instalment. In an interview with PTI, he said: ‘I want to end this film here because I think we have written really well. We’ve reached the point of the film where people will get a good high from it. So, I think making a fourth part, juicing out the same characters and track, is not correct for the franchise. A trilogy is good.’
Pathak also addressed the fandom around the franchise. ‘If they like the film, the third part, which I’m hoping they will, and they might want to come and say that fourth part should be there, I think they should also say farewell to the film and goodbye to the franchise and be happy with it,’ he said.
At the trailer launch event, Ajay Devgn spoke about the decision to conclude the story. ‘He came out with the script, which I really think Abhishek has cracked brilliantly; it is brilliant. And we all felt that this should be the conclusion, because I don’t think there should even be an attempt to go beyond this,’ Devgn said.
The Hindi and Malayalam Drishyam franchises have taken different creative paths. The Malayalam version, starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph, released its third instalment earlier in 2026 and became one of the biggest Mollywood grossers with over Rs 200 crore worldwide.
OTT Plans
The film’s digital streaming platform has reportedly been secured by Netflix, according to Filmibeat, marking a change from the first two instalments which were associated with Prime Video. An official OTT release date has not been announced.
Based on standard theatrical-to-OTT windows of six to eight weeks, the film could potentially reach Netflix around mid-to-late November 2026. The first two Drishyam films are currently available on JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video in India.
