A new version of the MovieBox APK has been released for Android devices, offering performance improvements and bug fixes. The update arrives as Nigerian authorities have suspended a local MovieBox domain over copyright infringement.
The latest APK version, identified as 2.11.36, was released on September 9, 2026, according to download listings. A separate premium build labeled v4.0.02.0903.02 also surfaced on September 15, 2026, with notes indicating fixes for video playback issues and unlocked download quality.
Version Details
The 2.11.36 update carries the package name com.enjoy.moviebox and requires Android 7.0 or higher. Its file size is listed at 125.5 MB, an increase from the 82.8 MB size of version 2.11.20 released in May 2026.
Earlier versions of the app were compatible with Android 4.4 and up, but the newer releases have raised the minimum system requirement. The app remains distributed through third-party APK repositories rather than the Google Play Store.
Nigerian Domain Suspended
The Nigerian Copyright Commission announced on September 10, 2026, that it had secured the suspension of MovieBox.ng. The commission acted in collaboration with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association.
According to a statement released in Abuja, the domain was described as a website notorious for streaming pirated movies, music, and live sports. The suspension targets the Nigerian country-code top-level domain, not the APK files distributed through other channels.

Security Concerns
MovieBox is not available on official app stores because it violates copyright laws, according to security analyses. Users must download the APK from third-party websites and enable installation from unknown sources on their Android devices.
Security researchers have warned that clone versions of the app may contain malware, including spyware, keyloggers, and ransomware. The app has also been criticized for requesting excessive permissions, such as access to storage, contacts, and camera.
A website review of moviebox-apk.net by ScamAdviser gave the domain a trust score of 71 out of 100. The analysis noted the domain was only five months old at the time of review and that other suspicious websites were hosted on the same server.
The current version of MovieBox remains available through various APK download portals. No official statement from the app’s developers regarding the Nigerian domain suspension has been released.
