S.W.A.T. Exiles Premieres September 25 on Starz With Shemar Moore Returning as Hondo

S.W.A.T. Exiles will premiere on Friday, September 25, 2026, exclusively on Starz. The spinoff series brings Shemar Moore back as Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson, continuing the story after the original CBS series ended its eight-season run in May 2025.

The first season will consist of 10 episodes. New episodes will be available weekly on Fridays through the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.

Starz released the official trailer and key art for the series on September 2, 2026. The trailer shows Hondo being forced to walk away from the LAPD after a botched raid ends in the death of a young operator named Nico Reyes.

His former commanding officer, Robert Hicks, played by Patrick St. Esprit, offers him a chance at redemption. Hondo is tasked with building a new S.W.A.T. unit from a group of talented but unconventional recruits.

The new team includes Sammy Bishop, a gun-show influencer played by Lucy Barrett; Ethan Cole, a socially awkward tactical savant played by Freddy Miyares; Cassidy Reed, played by Zyra Gorecki; Jude Callan, a wildcard with a troubled past played by Ronen Rubinstein; and Malik Anderson, played by Adain Bradley.

Original series cast members Jay Harrington and David Lim will also reprise their roles as David ‘Deacon’ Kay and Victor Tan in the spinoff.

During the season, Hondo discovers that someone inside his unit is feeding information to outside interests. The conspiracy reaches into the upper levels of the LAPD and the mayor’s office.

In the trailer, Hondo tells his new recruits, ‘They didn’t pick us to succeed or reform anything. They picked us all to burn together.’

Starz has already renewed S.W.A.T. Exiles for a second season. Shemar Moore announced the early renewal in a video posted to social media on August 10, 2026.

Moore said, ‘I got such great news. S.W.A.T. Exiles just got picked up for season two, baby.’ He also said, ‘We start shooting in a couple of months, but first, mark your calendars! Because season 1 is coming September 25th, exclusively on STARZ.’

Sony Pictures Television has secured international distribution for the series across Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. A number of those territories will also debut the show on September 25.

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Jason Ning serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Shemar Moore, James Scura, and Jon Cowan.

S.W.A.T. Exiles premieres Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET on Starz.
