Saiyaara Title Track Emerges as Global Chartbuster from Mohit Suri’s Romantic Drama

The title track ‘Saiyaara’ from director Mohit Suri’s romantic drama has emerged as a global chartbuster, topping Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart and ranking in the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200. The song, released on June 3, 2025, is performed by Kashmiri singer Faheem Abdullah and marks his debut in Hindi cinema along with co-composer Arslan Nizami.

‘Saiyaara’ is the title track of the 2025 Hindi-language musical romantic drama film of the same name, produced by Yash Raj Films and starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film, which released in theatres in July, follows the story of struggling singer Krish Kapoor (Panday) and lyricist Vaani Batra (Padda), who fall in love while collaborating on a song.

The song has been jointly composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, with lyrics penned by poet and lyricist Irshad Kamil. The word ‘Saiyaara’ is an Urdu term that means ‘wanderer’ and is often used to describe planets or stars, reflecting the film’s themes of longing and eternal love. Director Mohit Suri explained the meaning, saying that ‘Saiyaara’ actually means a heavenly body that travels lonely in the sky.

The lyrics of the title track express themes of deep connection and separation. The opening lines, ‘Tu Paas Hai Mere Paas Hai Aise, Mera Koi Ehsaas Hai Jaise,’ convey a sense of closeness and awareness. The chorus, ‘Saiyaara Tu Toh Badla Nahin Hai, Mausam Zara Sa Rootha Hua Hai,’ suggests that while the beloved remains unchanged, the circumstances have turned cold. Another verse, ‘Haaye Main Mar Hi Jaaun Jo Tujhko Na Paaun,’ expresses the intensity of the lover’s devotion.

The song became a massive commercial success, crossing 175 million streams on Spotify alone. It became the first Bollywood song to enter the Official UK Singles Chart, debuting at number 73 in August 2025. The track also made history as the first Hindi song to debut at number 10 on the Billboard Global 200 singles chart.

Faheem Abdullah, a singer, composer and songwriter from Srinagar, was handpicked by director Mohit Suri for the track, who chose him over established artists. Speaking about the opportunity, Abdullah said, ‘It’s an absolute honour to represent Kashmir in the Hindi film industry. This opportunity has been surreal. To be part of a Yash Raj Films project under Mohit Suri’s direction is a dream I never imagined would come true this soon.’ Co-composer Arslan Nizami added, ‘We’ve always believed in the power of Kashmiri music and storytelling. With Saiyaara, we hope audiences across India get a taste of the beauty and depth that our region holds.’

Music composer Tanishk Bagchi shared the news of the song’s chart success on Instagram, writing, ‘We did it. Saiyaara is now number 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral chart. This moment belongs to every heartbeat that felt this song. Thank you Mohit Suri sir, your vision made this possible. Irshad bhai, your lyrics touched souls. Arsalan and Faheem, your melody and voice lifted this song high. Yashraj, thank you for your trust. And the biggest thanks to every listener who heard, felt, and shared it. Indian music isn’t rising—it’s already flying. Saiyaara proves it.’

Yash Raj Films released an extended music album for ‘Saiyaara’ in September 2025, featuring two new songs and a set of original soundtrack instrumentals. The extended album includes ‘Barbaad (Rock Version)’ and ‘Saath Tu Chal Humsafar,’ along with 16 OST instrumentals and the original seven songs. The soundtrack has garnered over 500 million streams across platforms and topped charts on Gaana, JioSaavn, Amazon Music and Apple Music.

The film ‘Saiyaara’ has emerged as the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema, earning over Rs 569 crore nett worldwide, according to industry data. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on September 12.
